Quality and Durability
One interesting fact you should know about the Breitling Superocean and Tudor Black Bay is the surprising partnership of their movements. In 2017, Tudor launched Heritage Black Bay Chrono. Their Tudor caliber MT5813 was dubbed an “in-house” and a mistake by the brand.
However, the movement turned out to be sourced from Breitling for its manufactured and developed chronograph Caliber B01. Basically, Breitling supplied Tudor with its Caliber B01, while Tudor supplied Breitling with its Caliber MT5612.
Eventually, the Tudor’s Caliber MT5612 was also utilized in the Breitling SuperOcean Heritage II. However, some sources have also said that Tudor cannot develop its Caliber enough to meet SuperOcean II’s expectations.
Yes. The Breitling Superocean and Tudor Black Bay both offer a warranty for all their watches. Breitling offers an international warranty where your watch is guaranteed against any manufacturing defect, as set out under its terms and conditions. This warranty takes effect as of the watch’s date of purchase.
Breitling also offers other warranties, such as Breitling Movements, where they offer two years. They also have Mechanical Manufacture Breitling Movements, where they offer an extended warranty period of five (5) years.
On the other hand, all Tudor watches offer a five-year warranty. A five-year international warranty is guaranteed for watches purchased on or after January 1, 2020. Meanwhile, watches bought from July 1, 2018, to December 31, 2019, will receive an 18-month guarantee extension of three and a half years.
What Do People Say About It?
One satisfied customer was very happy with their purchase of the Breitling Superocean II, so he rated it a good star rating on Amazon. “I received it quickly on time in excellent condition,” he commented.
While a happy customer also gave a positive review of the Tudor Heritage Black Bay Men’s Watch and rated it a good star rating. “As an avid collector of dive watches, I can say that the entire Tudor line is super. Especially with their new in-house movement that can maintain a crazy 70-hour power reserve,” he wrote.
“This luxury watch is a perfect size, its relation to Rolex is obvious. I am not a gold fan of wristwatches, but the very subtle outlines of the dots and hands add some great sizzle to this piece. I own three black bays – one with the older ETA movement and two with the new movement.
If there is one thing I am not crazy about, it’s the riveted bracelet. But I am in the minority on this. The older versions have the bracelet with no rivets, which I think is cleaner. However, of the three, I think this one gets the most wear.”
Marshall Time filmed a video reviewing the Tudor Black Bay 58 and the Breitling Superocean 42. In the video, he compared the two brands in build quality over their design. He described the Breitling watch as a vintage-style looking watch. It is also larger and more contemporary with the 20/20. On the other hand, the Tudor Black Bay watch fits like an old Submariner.
He also praised Breitling’s polishing, but not so much on the brushing compared to the Breitling Chronomat and other SuperOcean watches. After describing all its excellent features, he preferred the Breitling watch over the Tudor Black Bay for its lume, battery life, water-resistance, and overall quality.

My name is Eve Acosta and I’m the person behind this site. Watches are what get me ticking ;).
No, but seriously, I just love watches, I have over 30 myself. It’s an obsession of mine, which is why my husband recommended me to put my hobby into some good use and build this site – so I did.
My passion for timepieces came from the fact that my parents own a small chain of shops selling timepieces. I’ve worked at the shop since I was 11 and fell in love with the merchandise.
